Explorer Post 195: News

End of an era

After thirty plus years of serving the youth of the area Explorer Post 195 has come to an end. As a fitting end I would like to organize one or two get together events. A visit to Six Flags, Wisconsin Dells, etc. would seem appropriate. If anyone has any opinions, dates, etc. please contact me. My email has not changed in 20 years, so you should be able to use the contact link of this site to let me know what you think. If nothing else get me your contact info so I can include you in on the plans. When plans are closer to solidified they will be posted here.

Sad News

It is with a heavy heart that I pass along the news of the passing of a former member of Explorer Post 195. Andy Jensen who was a member in the early 90's passed away, the result of an accident at home. Andy leaves behind a wife and 3 children. He was always a quiet type of leader while he was a member. He did many things with the Post, including attending the 1992 National Explorer Leadership Conference in Columbia, South Carolina. In recent years he became a Cub Scout leader, so he was passing along the Scouting experience. RIP Andy.

Meeting Cancelled

Due to the worsening road conditions, the meeting for tonight has been cancelled. See everyone in 2 weeks on the 21st.

Meeting Change

OOPS! I forgot to update the calendar. We are not meeting tonight as I'm out of town. We met last week and will meet again on the 20th at the normal time.

Meetings Cancelled

The meetings since December 5 have been cancelled. This is due to my injury and inability to drive to the meetings. We will also have to move the meeting that would normally have been scheduled for February 2. This meeting should happen on February 9 at the normal time and place. I'm hopeful that I will be better by then.

The meeting for tonight - January 14th is cancelled. We will meet again in 1 week at the normal date and time.

The meeting scheduled for January 7 has been postponed 1 week due to the extreme weather conditions.

The meeting for tonight (December 3, 2013) has been cancelled due to a funeral.

We are 25

Explorer Post 195 is now officially 25 years old. We started in October of 1987. Since that time we have server hundreds of youth in the Wisconsin Rapids area. We are planning on a celebration between Christmas and New Years. More info to come.

New Pinewood Derby Timer Commissioned

A former member of the Explorer Post has commissioned us to build a Pinewood Derby Timer. Since this timer needs to be done by early in 2013 we have our work cut out for us. The biggest issue is that the micro controller board we used in our most recent design has been discontinued by the manufacturer. For that reason we get to start all over again.

Change of meeting night

We will be changing the night of the next meeting to Monday, April 16, 2012. This is because I have a scheduling conflict.

Meeting cancelled!

Due to the weather, the meeting for tonight, April 19, 2011, has been cancelled. We will meet at the next regularly scheduled night of May 3.

Timer Functional

Tonight we finally got the Pinewood Derby Timer functional. Yee Haw!!!!

Timer Close to Ready

The Pinewood Derby Timer (version 5) is almost ready to be tested. We have only a few parts to order and then test the hardware. Then we will finish the firmware that will be on the microprocessor board.

More information will be posted here when we have something ready.

Change of Location

The meeting on the 20th of April will be at CJ's House.

April Meetings

In April we will have only one regularly scheduled meeting of Post 195. I will be out of town on April 21 and must cancel that meeting.

Post 195's website now has a newer look. We have upgraded to version 2 of the club site starter kit.
